Instructions

Get Ready

Gather the following materials. We've linked to our suggested choices, but feel free to substitute!

Read

Read “Nest” by Jorey Hurley, or another book of your choice about birds.

Be Curious

Help your tot learn something new about birds. Refer to Mass Audubon’s “Our Feathered Friends: STEM Preschool Teaching Unit,” or another resource of your choice, to help answer questions. Document as you learn, drawing pictures, making lists, and/or taking photos.

  • I wonder what parts birds have. Do you know?
  • This says birds have: feathers, two feet, two wings, and a beak or bill with no teeth!
  • I wonder where birds live. Do you know?
  • This says birds make nests!
  • Let’s look out the window. Do we see any birds? Do we see anywhere a bird might make a nest?
