- Play-doh
- Ruler
- Play-doh scissors/knife
Explore
Demonstrate how to roll play-doh into worm shapes of varying lengths. Place them near a measuring tape or rule. Then follow your tot’s lead and support her play.
Observe
Share your observations aloud, and encourage your tot to observe and/or describe the play-doh worms.
- What color are the worms?
- What shape are they?
- What size are the worms? Let’s find the biggest and smallest!
- Are the worms longer than our ruler, or shorter?
- How many worms have we made? Let’s count!
- Can we cut one of our worms? How many do we have now?
